Dear Viewer,
THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE). IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (BIS QCO) FOR THE V-BELTS (V-BELTS - ENDLESS V-BELTS FOR INDUSTRIAL PURPOSES – FIRE RESISTANT AND ANTISTATIC V-BELTS).
6th MARCH 2024
The Indian Government, particularly the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has made an important decision in New Delhi, dated [Date], 2023. They are using their powers under a law called the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). After discussing with the Bureau of Indian Standards, they believe it's essential for public welfare, so they're introducing the V-Belts (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
According to the BIS QCO for the v-belts (v-belts - endless v-belts for industrial purposes – fire resistant and antistatic v-belts) this new rule will officially start six months after it's announced in the Official Gazette. It's all about making sure certain things, like V-Belts, follow specific quality rules. These things should have a mark on them that shows they meet the standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. However, there are some exceptions. If things are made in our country but meant to be sold in other countries, these rules might not apply. Also, small and very small businesses might get some extra time before they have to follow these rules. According to this directive, V-Belts need to follow the specific Indian Standard 2494 (Part 2):1993, which covers Endless V-Belts for Industrial Purposes, specifically those designed to be fire-resistant and antistatic.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be the group responsible for saying if things follow the rules and making sure everyone follows them. If someone doesn't follow these rules, they might get in trouble. There could be penalties or punishments under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, as per mentioned in BIS QCO for the v-belts (v-belts - endless v-belts for industrial purposes – fire resistant and antistatic v-belts).
In a nutshell the government is making rules to make sure certain products, like V-Belts, are safe and good quality. If a company doesn't follow these rules, they might get punished. The group in charge of checking and enforcing these rules is called the Bureau of Indian Standards.
