An official update has been issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade) in New Delhi on August 29, 2023. Named Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Cellular and hollow core type) -Particle board and hardboard face panels) (Quality Control) Order, 2023.The government, utilizing authority granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, recognizes the importance of establishing guidelines for the quality of Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters. To formalize this, a new directive titled the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Quality Control) Order, 2023, has been introduced. The Bureau of Indian Standards is responsible for overseeing adherence to these regulations.
This rule, which starts working six months after it's announced, says that certain goods must have a special mark called the Standard Mark. These goods need to follow the specific standards set by India. To get this mark, a license from the Bureau of Indian Standard is needed, following a particular set of rules. However, goods made in the country for export don't need to follow this rule. Compliance with the BIS QCO for plywood (marine plywood) is essential for Wooden and Plywood products under the NIS, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
